What’s Eden have on us?
Island Company, the wholesale and retail luxury resort clothing brand, is known for its slogan, “Quit your job. Buy a ticket. Get a tan. Fall in love. Never Return.” It now has a new slogan for the sailing brigade: “Buy a boat. Follow the stars. Sail the 7 seas. Meet a mermaid. Live in Eden.” The mantra appears on Island Company products, including its 24-ounce Tervis tumblers that keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. We’re not sure if another version is in the works that offers the idea of living the dream in the Cayman Islands instead of Eden after meeting a mermaid (or merman?), but maybe there should be.
Edward Paintbrush Hands
Famous Spanish painter Pablo Picasso once said that “Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once he grows up.” Made for fingers small and large, Fingermax paintbrushes turn your fingertips into paintbrushes and encourage artistic expression no matter what your age. Past winner of the iF Design Award for products, Fingermax brushes allow users to paint with several colours at the same time while promoting spontaneity and finger motor skills. As a soft-tipped extension of your fingertips, the natural hair bristles bring a light, ticklish stroke that can be put to use for other imaginative purposes not involving typical canvases. Available at Books & Books.
Who’s the Boss?
All organisations have a boss. Most households have a boss. Schools, clubs and even boats have a boss. If you’re a boss, great! If you’re not, designer Hugo Boss is here to help with an empowering reminder to you and those you greet while wearing it that you are, at the very least, the master of your own domain. Made with breathable, sports piqué fabric and coming in various colours, these lightweight caps are available at NKY in Camana Bay. If you feel the name of the real boss man underneath the logo takes away some of the cap’s confidence-building attributes, think of it phonetically: “You go, boss!”
Follow the Rainbow
“I love putting on sunscreen!” said no child ever, well, at least until the Miami-based company Sunshine & Glitter invented SeaStar Sparkle Rainbow Glitter sunscreen. What’s not to like? It’s SPF50 with 80 minutes of water resistance. It’s PABA- and Paraben-free, making it reef safe. It’s biodegradable. It’s safe and effective against both UVA and UVB rays, and it’s non-irritating. It’s vegan and not tested on animals. It smells like a delicious party cake and makes you, as the company’s website says, “gorgeous, well protected and sparkling.” Who wouldn’t want to be, or to see, a rainbow coming out of the water? Available at LIttle Angels.
