The Camana Bay Visitor Centre moved to a new permanent location on Market Street in between West Indies Wine Company and Design Studio on Nov. 1.
Dart Real Estate Senior Manager Guest Services & Recreation Jeffrey Wight said the move from the location on the Crescent was made with the public in mind.
“We wanted the Visitor Centre to be closer to the middle of the Town Centre so that it would be more accessible for people,” he said.
The new location is smaller than the previous location, but Wight said there is plenty of space for the core functions of the Visitor Centre.
“We had much more space than we needed before,” he said, adding that the previous location on the Crescent was always intended to be temporary after moving from the old Discovery Centre. “The new location is more intimate, cosy even.”
The island-inspired decor in the new space reflects Grand Cayman, but is not yet completed. A wall of shutters is still to be installed on the wall facing visitors as they walk in.
“With the busy Christmas season upon us, we decided to wait until after the holidays to finish the interior installations,” he said. “But all of our operations are fully functional and our concierges are ready to assist visitors in any way they can.”
One new element of the Visitor Centre is an interactive touchscreen that allows people to visit the Camana Bay website for more information about particular shops or restaurants, or even to buy movie tickets online. Other services offered at the Visitor Centre include the sale of Camana Bay Gift Cards, reservations for boat slips in the harbour and the booking of facilities at the Sports Complex.
