The Caribbean Advertising Federation has awarded Dart Real Estate gold and silver awards in the ADDY® Awards, the world’s largest advertising competition, with over 50,000 entries annually.
A video introducing The Residences at Seafire signature interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard titled “Martyn Lawrence Bullard – Where the Sun Ignites the Sea” won gold and was selected Judge’s Choice for Cinematography. All gold-award winners from the Caribbean district will be sent to the US for the next phase of the competition.
For the first time, Camana Bay produced a Christmas-themed video to celebrate the season titled “Have the Most Wonderful Time,” which won silver in the 60-second television commercial category.
Sean Bodden, creative director for Whirlybird Productions, was contracted by Dart Real Estate to direct and produce both videos. “What we love about working with the good folks at Dart is that everyone is so supportive and willing to lend a hand,” said Bodden. “They appreciate the value of good work to their brand and you get a sense of their commitment as soon as you walk through those doors at Nexus Way.”
Upon completion of “Where the Sun Ignites the Sea,” Bodden and the production team premiered the video in Regal Cinemas in Camana Bay. “It was really cool to premiere the finished video in the cinema, in front of everyone who was involved. I think it added to the initial impact it had.”
For the “Have the Most Wonderful Time” project, Sean worked with Michelle Veldhoven, senior graphic designer at Dart Real Estate, to develop the storyline. “We wanted to connect with as many people as possible, so we did something I don’t believe has been done before in Cayman: We licensed the famous song ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ by Andy Williams,” explained Bodden.
With the help of Jason Gilbert’s J-Eagle Music, a Grammy Award-winning Caymanian, the team had local singer Jamesette Anglin record a modern version of the classic Christmas song that played as Thandie, a young Cayman resident, makes her way through Camana Bay, spreading holiday cheer.
“Between the studio team at Dart, our team at Whirlybird Productions and the musical genius of J-Eagle Music, I believe we set a new standard for what a commercial production should look like in the Cayman Islands, and winning a CAF ADDY is the icing on the cake,” said Bodden.
