It’s summertime, a season of fun in the Cayman Islands, but also a season of harsh sun beaming down on your skin.
It’s always a good idea to protect your skin from the bright sunlight here, but it’s even more important in the summer.
Sharron Eyers, owner of Le Visage, a luxury cosmetics boutique in Camana Bay, says proper hydration and and sunscreen are essential for summer skincare.
“Keep your skin hydrated, obviously drink lots of water and also use a good moisturiser morning and night to retain the moisture content,” says Sharron. “And always use a sunblock to protect your skin.”
Sharron suggests finding the right products for each season. Le Visage recently hosted mini skincare treatments in partnership with Elemis, a brand Sharron recommends to many of her customers as it’s a results-driven brand that she can personally review.
“Having used the Elemis brand for six years, I see a massive difference in the quality of my skin,” she says. “I love the fact I can switch product categories within the brand to see continued results for my skin.”
A key ingredient used in Elemis products is the Padina Pavonica, which is green algae. Some years ago, while diving off the coast of Malta, a leading French cosmetic scientist discovered fan-shaped brown algae growing on a shipwreck.
He noticed that under the seaweed, the wood had been preserved as if time had stood still. Recognising the potential benefits as an anti-ageing product, he researched the Padina Pavonica for 10 years, before it changed the face of Elemisanti-ageing skincare.
Sharron also suggests toner and peels to keep your skin protected in the summertime.
“I also love the Elemis Ginseng toner for instant hydration,” she says. “It can be used under or over make-up. Another great product to use during the hot months is papaya enzyme peel to slough away all the dead skin cells and instantly brightenyour complexion.”
Elemis products are also good for the rest of the body.
“Elemis have the best body brush made, with cactus bristles used to help with circulation, get rid of dead skin and also help with cellulite,” Sharron says. “I finish with a skin-nourishing body cream after being out in the sun to put the moisture back into the skin.”
