Sleep disorders are increasingly being linked to a variety of health issues and the goal of the National Sleep Foundation in the United States is to promote better public understanding of sleep and sleep disorders. With that in mind, the organisation launched “National Sleep Awareness Week” in 1998. Ten years later, another organisation — the World Association of Sleep Medicine, which is now known as the World Sleep Society — launched “World Sleep Day.”
Both of these events take place this month — National Sleep Awareness Week from the 10th through the 16th, and World Sleep Day on March 15.
In recognition of these events, The SPA at Seafire is offering a special rate on one of its services, the Tranquility Meditative Ritual. This innovative pro-sleep massage acts on three different sensorial pathways through a unique combination of sound, touch and aroma.
“This service is a powerful ritual for calming the activity in your mind to achieve a genuine state of relaxation,” says SPA at Seafire Manager Anneka Greenway. “The indulgent blend of aromatic oils is ideal for relieving anxiety, and Ayurvedic and Indonesian massage techniques, combined with the use of soft brushes, achieve a quiet and peaceful mind and body state favouring sleep, and help recovery from the side effects of jet lag.”
Throughout the month of March, The SPA at Seafire is offering the 90-minute Tranquility Meditative Ritual experience at a special rate of CI$194, inclusive of service charge.
“A good night’s sleep is vital to your mental and physical well-being,” says Greenway. “If you’re kept up at night worrying about financial problems, relationship worries or other stressful issues, a massage may be the key to sounder sleep. Regular massage sessions have been found to decrease depression, anxiety levels and improve sleep quality.”
