The Camana Bay Christmas Give charity fundraising campaign, now in its seventh year, aims to support the community while fostering the seasonal joy of helping others.
This year, the general funds raised during Christmas Give will be donated to the The Good Samaritan Food Bank, a new charity that centralises food donations across the island. The hope is for this to be the main hub that all other food charities on island can turn to for support.
There are many ways for those wishing to express their gratitude to give back this holiday season. No donation is too small and every bit counts.
One way of donating extra change is a fun coin race using the cascading coin stand at the Camana Bay Cinema. Another way to give is to have family photographs taken by Picture This Studios with either a traditional or Caribbean Santa Claus and then buy a photo package. For every photo package purchased, Picture This will donate CI$1 to the Christmas Give fund. Traditional Santa Claus will be in Gardenia Court every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. through Dec. 21 and Caribbean Santa Claus will be on the Island in the Harbour every Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 23.
The annual Santa Run on Dec. 17 invites people to enjoy Grand Cayman weather in December while they run or walk a 5K while dressed up in Christmas costume. The CI$25 registration fee includes a Caribbean-themed Santa Run tank top and Santa hats can be purchased for an additional donation of $5 for adults and $2 for children. All of the net proceeds raised at the Santa Run go to the general Christmas Give fund.
Acts of Random Kindness is another charity that is supported with Christmas Give. Purchase a grocery gift certificate at Foster’s Food Fair, Cost-U-Less, Kirk Market, Hurley’s Fresh Market or Bay Market and donate them to Acts of Random Kindness at the new Camana Bay Visitor Centre located between Design Studio and West Indies Wine Company. Canned or non-perishable food items can also be taken to the Visitor Centre to support the Good Samaritan Food Bank.
