The 2018 Cayman Alternative Investment Summit — better known as CAIS — will feature a guest speaker unlike any to ever attend a conference in the Cayman Islands: a robot.
Sophia, the world’s first robot to be granted citizenship of a country, will speak to support the theme of this year’s summit, “Wired: the rise of alternative investments in a digital age.” Created using breakthrough robotics and artificial intelligence technology by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics, Sophia is endowed with remarkable expressiveness, aesthetics and interactivity.
Sophia made her debut at the South by Southwest show in March 2016. Since then, she has appeared on numerous television shows, including the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan,” and has also addressed members of the United Nations General Assembly committee. Sophia recently made headlines when she accepted citizenship to Saudi Arabia in October 2017.
The agenda of CAIS 2018, which takes place Feb. 8 – 9 at Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, is aimed to spark conversations about the opportunities at the intersection of alternative investing and technology. With investment professionals from across the globe discussing emerging technologies like bitcoin and artificial intelligence, the summit will provide a timely forum for hedge fund managers, allocators, economists and innovators.
