Camana Bay Cinema will celebrate Christmas with four well-loved, holiday-themed films this month.
Three of those films will be shown as part of the Saturday morning Kids Club programming, starting with the 1990s classic holiday comedy”Home Alone” on Dec. 15. Kevin is then accidentally left behind and the rest of his family are already in flight to Paris before they realise the mistake. While they try to return home as fast as they can, Kevin has to protect the family home from two burglars who think the house is unoccupied.
On Dec. 22, Kids Club will present “A Christmas Story.” A young boy named Ralphie spends his time dodging a bully and trying to convince his parents, his teacher and a department store Santa Claus that a Red Ryder BB gun is really the perfect Christmas gift. This nostalgic comedy consistently ranks with critics as one of the best holiday movies of all time.
Based on a children’s book, the animated movie “The Polar Express” will be screened on Dec. 29. In this inspiring and adventurous film, a young boy decides to travel to the North Pole on the “Polar Express” train. While on his journey, he learns about friendship, bravery and the spirit of Christmas.
Keeping with the Christmas theme, Classics at the Cinema will show the Chevy Chase comedy “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on Dec. 18. As Christmas approaches, Clark Griswold is determined to have a perfect family Christmas. However, the holiday takes a turn for the worse as out-of-town relatives show up unannounced and Clark doesn’t get the big holiday bonus he expected.
Christmas films then move outside to the Camana Bay Crescent for the free Holiday Moonlight & Movies. On Dec. 4 “Fred Claus” will be shown on the big screen, followed by “Miracle on 34th Street” on Dec. 11th. A third Holiday Moonlight & Movies feature will be shown on Dec. 18, with the public voting on which of three selections it would like to see. The winner will be announced in on Camana Bay’s social media channels on Monday, Dec. 3.
