With paradigm-shifting political decisions and ground-breaking technological advances happening all over the globe, the world is changing rapidly. The Royal Fidelity Cayman Economic Outlook conference on Feb. 28 at Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa hopes to help delegates better understand and navigate those changes.
Royal Fidelity President Michael Anderson says this year’s conference title — “Dynamic New World – Braving the Turmoil” — is a play on the title of Aldous Huxley’s book “Brave New World.”
“His book, written in 1932, identified numerous issues being experienced across the world today, including the emergence of biogenetics,” says Anderson.
Royal Fidelity, which is the title sponsor of the Bahamas-based annual Royal Fidelity BEO Conference and which has been a co-sponsor of the annual Fidelity CEO conference since its inception in 2003, has taken over the main sponsorship of the Cayman Islands conference this year. Dart is also a sponsor.
“The assumption of the sponsor role by Royal Fidelity coincides with its decision to enter the Cayman market in early 2019,” says Anderson. “The conference was seen as an excellent platform to announce its entry.”
Visiting speakers scheduled to appear at the one-day conference include economist, author and geopolitical expert Noreena Hertz; University of Oxford Professor of Globalisation and Development Ian Goldin; Swedish journalist and author of “The Google Code” Andreas Ekström; biotechnology futurist Jamie Metzl; and professional surfer and motivational speaker Mark Mathews.
As has been customary at the conference, Cayman Islands Premier Alden McLaughlin will deliver the annual address in the morning.Anderson said Hertz will deliver the keynote address.
“She will provide her insights into the impact of nationalism on politics across Europe and the U.S., and on other key factors impacting the global economies,” he says.
Tickets for the conference, which includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and post-conference cocktails, can be purchased online at rfceo.ky.
