With Breast Cancer Awareness Month occurring in October, Camana Bay will literally light up pink. Starting on Oct. 1 and running through Oct. 28, the fountain on the Crescent, the Observation Tower and the area around the cinema all get illuminated with pink lights after dark to raise awareness in the ongoing efforts to prevent and treat breast cancer.
There are also activities to support that effort during the month of October: Eclipze Hair Design & Day Spa hosted its annual “Cut-A-Thon” fundraiser on Oct. 1 and later this month, on Oct. 14, the 11th annual Pilates for Pink event returns to the Camana Bay Arts & Recreation Centre, hosted by ENERGY Essential Fitness.
In addition, the Camana Bay Visitor Centre is now selling special pink Camana Bay Breast Cancer Awareness Gift Cards and 10 per cent of all the proceeds from sales of those cards during the month of October will be donated to The Breast Cancer Foundation.
Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month is just one of many ways Camana Bay promotes health and wellness. This month, many of the articles in “Camana Bay Times” deal with a variety of topics concerning health and wellness, ranging from healthy cooking and wellness initiatives to how to avoid eye problems caused by technology and how technology has paved the way for many advancements in dentistry.
