Cayman Dental has added a new dentist, Dr. Imogen Bexfield, to its team, and she works on more than just your teeth.
In addition to providing the full range of dental surgeon services, Dr. Bexfield offers a wide variety of aesthetics services as well, including anti-ageing and skincare treatments.
Dr. Bexfield didn’t necessarily set out to specialise in aesthetics. She began her path as a dentist at the University of Leeds, U.K., where she graduated with a merit in Dental Surgery. She continued her training at the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital in London, and then as a speciality dentist at the distinguished Guys and St. Thomas Hospital, London, where she sharpened her skills as an oral surgeon.
Dentistry fit perfectly with what Dr. Bexfield was looking for in a career. “The appeal for me was having a career which strikes a balance between doing something interesting and academic and practical and artistic,” she says. “You might not think that dentistry is artistic, but there is a creative side to smile design and cosmetic dentistry.”
It wasn’t that big of a leap from dentistry to aesthetics, Dr. Bexfield says. “Although it might not seem apparent, aesthetics fits in so well with dentistry, that for me it was a natural progression,” she says. “Dentists’ study is focused on the anatomy of the head and neck and we spend our time doing very detailed orientated, precise work. These skills are perfectly transferable to carrying out facial aesthetics.”
Dr. Bexfield continued to study in London, this time in Aesthetics, doing qualifications in Botox and Dermal Fillers at the London School of Facial Aesthetics and masterclasses on the lip, neck and under eye enhancements. Dr. Bexfield has also undertaken training in Restylane Skin Boosters, Profhilo skin remodelling treatment and Obagi medical prescription skincare.
An expert in the field, she also runs advanced hands-on training sessions in the latest aesthetics techniques every three months for other doctors in Harley Street in central London, a street noted for its large number of private specialists in medicine and surgery.
The latest treatment which has been added to our portfolio is the PDO thread lift. We are excited to be the only clinic on the island to offer this treatment. It is the closest treatment to a non-surgical facelift. Dr. Imogen Bexfield
Armed with all of this experience and expertise, Dr. Bexfield provides the full range of aesthetics treatments through Camana Bay Aesthetics within Cayman Dental, such as Botox in all areas of the face to treat wrinkles, and dermal fillers she uses to sculpt the face including the lips and cheeks or to fill ageing lines. She also offers the newest cutting-edge aesthetics treatments.
“The latest treatment which has been added to our portfolio is the PDO thread lift. We are excited to be the only clinic on the island to offer this treatment,” she says. “It is the closest treatment to a non-surgical facelift. Now, there is no need to travel to Miami for this amazing treatment anymore, as it’s available right here at Camana Bay Aesthetics.”
Another treatment new to the island is Profhilo, a skin conditioning treatment that stimulates the body to regenerate the cells, which tightens, lifts and smoothes the skin while being completely natural. “This has been one of our most popular treatments to date.” Dr. Bexfield says, adding that the Obagi medical skin care range is also very popular. “It has powerful anti-ageing effects and also treats sun damage, so it is ideal for Cayman.”
Before any of these treatments or procedures is begun, Dr. Bexfield provides complimentary consultations. “This way, clients can meet me and hear about the treatment options and feel comfortable before deciding to go ahead,” she says. “I also record all of my treatments, including the consultation, on a specialised, dedicated iPad app so that everything is safe, confidential and documented fully. That way, when the client chooses to go ahead, I know exactly what was discussed and planned.”
Planning has special appeal to Dr. Bexfield in her aesthetics practice. “My favourite part of carrying out facial aesthetics is being able to analyse someone’s facial proportions, skin quality and features and being able to recommend small, natural enhancements which perhaps the client hadn’t even considered, but then they are delighted with the end result,” she says. “This is
Dr. Bexfield has found that her clients are satisfied with her work as well. “I have been really humbled by the overwhelming response by clients,” she says. “It is great to get so many word-of-mouth referrals and for clients to be so excited about the new treatments that I have brought to the island.”
