Join Camana Bay and Slow Food South Sound this April for a celebration of the Cayman Islands’ home-grown food scene featuring Caymanian chef and winner of 2017’s UK Young Chef of the Year, Jack Barwick. Slow Food Day is back for its seventh year with four events being hosted from morning until evening, celebrating fresh local ingredients and Grand Cayman’s culinary scene. Start off the day by collecting a passport for CI$10 and then visit the Crescent for a Farm-to-Table Tasting Market. Chefs from restaurants across Cayman and Camana Bay partner with local farmers to transform locally grown ingredients into delicious dishes.
Youngsters who are young aspiring chefs can register for the Food Revolution Kids’ Seed2Plate Workshop, led by Cayman’s Food Revolution Ambassador Maureen Cubbon. This cooking class will put their culinary skills to the test in a fun, interactive and educational environment.
Jack Barwick will also host a Slow Food Lunch at Bon Vivant Kitchen Studio where he will prepare an Indian menu full of locally sourced ingredients. The day’s events end under the stars on Mizu’s patio with the Harvest Dinner presented by Pani Indian Kitchen’s chefs and Jack Barwick, featuring traditional Indian dishes made with ingredients from Grand Cayman’s farms.
As April is all about food, learn how to complement your meals with knowledge shared by La Crema brand ambassador Fernando Arteaga at the Somm Series at West Indies Wine Company.
