Cayman’s favourite food festival is back: Taste of Cayman! The Cayman Islands Tourism Association’s (CITA) annual food showcase will take place on our very own Festival Green this Saturday, 28 January.
Now in its 29th year, the festival serves up an array of delicious treats from some of Cayman’s best restaurants, a wide array of craft cocktails, beers and wine along with exciting competitions and exceptional live entertainment.
Shaking Things Up
Cayman’s mixologists will compete against a number of international mixologists in the Seven Fathoms Cayman Rum Challenge. The winner of the competition will be crowned Seven Fathoms Mixologist of the Year.
The Heavy Cake Competition is always a festival highlight. A local delicacy, heavy cake is a showcase of Caymanian resourcefulness. Made with cassava, coconut milk, spices and cornstarch instead of the traditional cake ingredients of eggs and flour, this deliciously dense and rich cake takes a special talent to make.
Come for the food and stay for the music
Music lovers of all ages and genres will experience a feast for the ears at Taste of Cayman. The main stage will host a celebration of music throughout the decades with tribute acts ranging from Paul McCartney to Lady Gaga as well as a host of popular local artists.
The night will end with a full belly and fantastic fireworks.
Gates open at 5pm on Saturday, 28 January and the event runs through 11:45pm. Tickets for Taste of Cayman are $40 in advance or $50 at the gate for adults and $20 for children ages five to 13. For more information, visit tasteofcayman.org.
