Earthworks have begun to facilitate the development of the new Camana Bay sports field to the west of the Esterley Tibbetts Highway. Included in this phase is clear, fill and drainage works, along with the extension of Jasmine Blossom Way to allow vehicular access from West Bay Road once the facility is completed.
The Central Planning Authority earlier this year approved plans for a football field, 710-square-foot pavilion, six training areas, 100-metre track and 78 parking spaces to be located on Jasmine Blossom Way, next to the National Gallery. It is scheduled for completion in late 2025.
"The new field, once operational, will continue to reinforce Dart’s commitment to promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for residents and visitors of Camana Bay," Dart Senior Property Manager Jeffrey Wight said. "Additionally, the project aligns with the broader vision for the Town Centre, blending vibrant urban living with green spaces and active community amenities."
The road extension will support access to the sports field, which is designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality recreational spaces in the Cayman Islands.
The sports facility is an expansion of the Camana Bay Sports Complex, connected by a pathway under the Esterley Tibbetts Highway. The practice and training grounds will be open for public use informal recreation and sports practices.
Plans call for the pitch to include a state-of-the-art lighting system that restricts light spill to 150 feet from the source, the first of its kind in Cayman.
