The highly anticipated opening of Health City at Camana Bay (HCCB) marks a significant milestone in the Cayman Islands' healthcare landscape. This new 70,000-square-foot facility on Cerasee Way is poised to offer a comprehensive range of services that will enhance the quality of care available in the Cayman Islands.

"Health City at Camana Bay represents a significant advancement in the local healthcare infrastructure," Health City Cayman Islands Director of Business Development Shomari Scott said. "It ensures that residents and visitors have access to comprehensive, top-tier medical services, including critical emergency services. This is a one-stop shop, so to speak, where patients can see an internal medicine specialist for the flu but can also consult with a cardiothoracic surgeon about complex heart surgery."

The opening of HCCB is particularly noteworthy as it aims to reduce the reliance on overseas healthcare systems, making world-class medical care more accessible on island. It includes a state-of-the-art intensive care unit (ICU), a post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) with 12 fully equipped beds, spacious inpatient facilities and a VIP suite designed for optimal comfort and recovery. The hospital also features a 10-bed emergency room (ER) capable of handling a wide range of urgent medical situations, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with specialised care for critically ill newborns, and modern labour and delivery suites.

In addition to these critical services, HCCB will introduce new and advanced medical technologies to the island, including a robust robotic surgery programme and cutting-edge diagnostic imaging services such as a 3T MRI, PET CT and mammogram machine. The facility will also provide comprehensive oncology services, including bone marrow transplantation and CAR T-cell therapy, further solidifying its position as a leader in medical innovation in the region.

Located on the south side of Camana Bay, HCCB is the cornerstone of a growing health and wellness hub, bringing together a cohesive network of healthcare providers in close physical proximity.

"Over 70% of the population lives and works in George Town, and there is currently a gap in service provision," Scott said. "Our new hospital being the cornerstone of the emergent health and wellness hub in that locale is something we are quite proud of."

By establishing this hub, Health City is not only increasing convenience for patients but also fostering a collaborative approach to healthcare.

"Healthcare should also be convenient," Scott said. "For those who work in Camana Bay, this proximity is definitely very convenient, as they can see a physician during their lunch break and return to work without any disruptions to their workday.
