Global Wellness Day — an international initiative with the slogan, “One day can change your whole life” — was celebrated on 8 June, and the shops and restaurants throughout Camana Bay embraced it as a day to highlight the ways you can adopt a healthier lifestyle. It aimed to provide a moment to appreciate the value of life, pause and reflect, reduce stress, foster self-peace and raise awareness about living well, not just for one day, but for the entire year.

Align wellness studio was among the participating service providers supporting this initiative.
Majd Forrest, representing Align, expressed his passion for the event, highlighting the clinic's holistic approach to health.

"Our dedicated team of chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists and physiotherapists was available to interact with the public, share insights about our services and offer valuable advice on maintaining overall health and well-being," Forrest said. "We believe in promoting a holistic approach to health, encouraging people to take proactive steps towards better living. Global Wellness Day is crucial as it raises awareness about the importance of wellness and inspires individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles."

Near Jasmine Court, fitness equipment and clothing retailer Sportista also took part in the celebration. Co-owner Josephine Montoya emphasised Sportista's focus on everyday wellness.

“In support of Global Wellness Day, Sportista offered free tastings of an all-natural energy gel made from chia seeds and assisted people in determining their foot arch type and discussing its impact on their running shoes. We believe Global Wellness Day gives people time to stop and realise how impactful living well can be,” Montoya said.

Despite the occasional rain showers, The Edgy Vedge restaurant ensured the spirit of the day continued by offering free tastings of their menu items. Co-owner Sian Weinzweig focused on educating the public about the benefits of a plant-based diet.

"We believe that eating a plant-based diet, or incorporating plant-based food into your diet, contributes to wellness in general. It’s about trying our menu and realising that plant-based food can be really delicious, breaking down the stigma that surrounds the word vegan,” Weinzweig said.

In addition to the tastings, The Edgy Vedge ran special promotions throughout the month and partnered with Bon Vivant to showcase vegan cooking classes, further promoting the benefits of plant-based eating.

The hope of Global Wellness Day was to successfully inspire people in Cayman to consider and adopt healthier lifestyle choices. The event’s emphasis on holistic health, nutrition and self-care resonated with many, proving that one day can indeed change your whole life.
