Name: Steve Shienfield
Position: Manager and Chef for Market Street Ltd. (which includes Mizu Asian Bistro + Bar, Waterfront Urban Diner, Pani Indian Kitchen and The Brooklyn Pizza & Pasta at Camana Bay).
Where are you from? I’m from Toronto, Canada, originally.
How long have you worked in Camana Bay? I have worked in Camana Bay since 2012.
How would you describe your day-to-day? My day-to-day varies. It includes everything from daily operations in the restaurants, to provisions, helping organise and prepare for events to liaising with guests, staff and other tenants. No day is like the last or like the next.
What do you enjoy about your job? There’s so many things about my job that are great. The best thing, though, is you never know who you’re gonna meet or speak to on a day-to-day. I often talk with guests about where they’re from, who they are, what they do and why they’re here in Cayman. We have the most interesting people all the time.
What is your favourite Camana Bay memory? My favourite memory about Camana Bay is probably the first time I saw the Christmas decorations. I was taken aback by how lit up the Town Centre and the rest of Camana Bay was and how vibrant everything became in Camana Bay. The Town Centre just became a hive of activity with people, locals and tourists.
What is something that people don't know about you but should? Something people don’t know about me is that I’m a baseball fanatic. I love the Toronto Blue Jays. That also translates into coaching with the Cayman Islands Little League here in Cayman.
