Health City's Rebekah Brooks speaks to the crowd at the 2023 Catwalk for Cancer fashion show. Now in its third year, the event annually raises approximately CI $20,000 for local non-profits.
Sand Angels and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society are once again partnering to host Catwalk for Cancer, a fashion-led fundraiser to support the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. This year's show is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, 7 March, in the Town Centre.
"We love fashion and we want to give back to our local community," Sand Angels owner Catherine Dawson-James said. "We are so lucky to have [Health City Cayman Islands] as a partner in this event. The CICS does an amazing job of supporting local cancer patients both financially and through their treatment. CICS also pays for screening for people who cannot afford to pay, which helps for early detection."
HCCI last year opened its radiation oncology centre, formally named the Gene Thompson Radiotherapy Centre. This facility is the most advanced in the region and features top-of-the-line treatment options, including a Siemens TrueBeam Varian linear accelerator. It marks the first phase of HCCI's new 70,000-square-foot hospital set to open this year.
"With cancer developing and progressing in an evolutionary manner, it is incumbent on those of us in the medical field to ensure our treatment solutions are also evolving," said HCCI Head of Sales & Marketing Rebekah Brooks. "Health City remains committed to being ‘on trend,’ providing innovative and successful treatment options for our patients. This event provides a great opportunity for us to do so, while remaining true to our core value and mission of providing world-class, affordable healthcare for those who need it."
Now in its third year, the Catwalk for Cancer fashion show annually raises approximately CI $20,000 for local non-profits. This year, 100% of the event's proceeds will go to the CICS.
"Catwalk for Cancer combines creativity and inspiration with the latest spring fashions, in support of an important cause: raising awareness and funds to support the Cayman Islands Cancer Society," according to HCCI.
"The Cayman Islands Cancer Society works tirelessly to ensure that those with the greatest need to critical cancer care are able to access it. This work is only possible with the support of kind volunteers, generous sponsors and the dedicated CICS team."
