September Events at Camana Bay

29 August 2018

September is Literacy Month and throughout the entire month Camana Bay is celebrating and encouraging reading for all ages! This year’s theme is Unravelling Mysteries Through Reading, and activities include the return of the Scavenger Hunt, where children can unravel the clues given to them to solve a case! Once children have solved the mystery, they can return their map to Books & Books and receive 10% of  their next book purchase. While children are visiting Books & Books they can enter the Advent Calendar competition by writing about their favourite book to be entered for the chance to open an advent calendar door during the holiday season.

During Literacy Month we will also be supporting six local authors who have written children’s books. These include Kate Ure, author of Alphabet Island, Kathleen Bodden Harris, author of Quest on a Marl Road and I Am Enough, by Caymanian actress and celebrity Grace Byers, who will be signing a copy of her book after the reading. Adults can also take part in reading by attending this month’s Bookends Club at Books & Books where you will read and discuss The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Camana Bay will also be showing their support for LIFE (Literacy Is For Everyone) by contributing 10% of all mystery-themed book sales during the month of September. Bring the family down to Camana Bay to show your support and encourage reading!

At the end of the month on Saturday, September 29 your children can also take part in Gamers Bay, the annual Video Gaming Tournament and Convention in the Cayman Islands which is the ultimate touchpoint for gaming enthusiast. On Sunday, September 30, come out and show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness as Eclipze Hair Design & Day Spa hosts their Annual Cut-A-Thon for the 18th year in a row. Treat yourself to salon services at discounted prices and funds will benefit The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens’ Breast Cancer Awareness Fund.
