Pilates for Pink at Camana Bay

This October, Camana Bay is hosting activities and events to celebrate and encourage positive health, both mental and physical, at every age. Start off the month by showing your support for a good cause with the Anti-Bullying Fair, presented by the Family Resource Centre and Hurley’s Media on Saturday, Oct. 6. Children will be encouraged to showcase their creative work to raise awareness of the social effects of bullying in school and all its forms. Families are also encouraged to stay fit for a cause by taking part in the Mental Health Walk and Talk, presented by the Alex Panton Foundation on Wednesday, Oct. 10, and the Save Our Youth (SOY) Monster Dash on Saturday, Oct. 20. October is marked globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and everyone is invited to participate in the annual Pilates for Pink, run by ENERGY Essential Fitness.

Shoppers’ Night Out is back this year, happening on Thursday, Oct. 18 with a night of special offers and promotions for participating shops and restaurants in Camana Bay. Shopper will enjoy music, food, refreshments and chances to win raffle prizes all night long! Late-Night Shopping at Camana Bay will kick off the same night, with shops staying open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays from Oct. 18 until the holiday season ends, making it easier than ever to sneak in those after-work errands and pick up those gifts and supplies for the weekend.

We can’t leave the month of October without a Halloween-themed family event. On Wednesday, Oct. 31, Camana Bay will host Halloween on the Big Screen on the Crescent. This year the public will have the opportunity to vote, through Camana Bay’s social media, to choose which film will be shown that night!

Classics at the Cinema

Tuesdays throughout October, 7 p.m., Camana Bay Cinema

Camana Bay Cinema features a classic movie every Tuesday as part of its Classics at the Cinema series. Shown in the VIP theatre, tickets are CI$20 per person and include a small popcorn. For more details, visit bigscreen.ky/classics.

Arts & Recreation Centre

The Family Resource Centre will host the Stood Up Fair which aims to present a united front against bullying in all its forms. Children in two age brackets – ages 10 to 12 and 13 to 16 – will have the chance to showcase their creativity and ingenuity in bringing awareness to the social effects of bullying in school and beyond. Participants are encouraged to use a wide variety of media to convey their message, including but not limited to posters, display boards, sculptures, paintings, PowerPoint presentations, poems and photography.

Story Time with Avagaye Clarke-Heron

Books & Books

Children ages four to seven can join local author, Avagaye Clarke-Heron, as she reads from her book, Cock-A-Doodle-Choo! Mr. Rooster gets the Flu. This event is free and open to the public.

Mental Health Walk and Talks presented by the Alex Panton Foundation

Wednesday, October 10, 5-7 p.m.

Town Centre

Take part in this evening walk/run through Camana Bay in an effort to promote mental health. Proceeds to benefit the Alex Panton Foundation.

The Bookends Club

Join The Bookends Club as they meet to review their latest pick, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. Come share your insights and impressions in an open discussion. The Bookends Club gathers on the second Wednesday of every month and new members are always welcome.

 Pilates for Pink

ENERGY Essential Fitness hosts a fitness class to raise funds for breast cancer awareness. Bring a mat and wear pink to join a fun workout where prizes are awarded throughout the class. Shoppers’ Night Out
