School’s out for the summer but here at Camana Bay we want to keep you learning! Do you know the Camana Bay courtyards? Would you be willing to go double jeopardy if the opportunity arose?

There are five Camana Bay courtyards that are named after the gardenia, jasmine, heliconia, canella and cassia plants. Each courtyard has a distinctly different personality that has been nurtured through their planting scheme and water features.

Most Cayman Islands visitors and residents will be familiar with Gardenia Court. This centralised courtyard, nestled between Books & Books and Picture This Studios, was the original home of Camana Bay’s beloved outdoor film events, Moonlight & Movies. Featuring a grassy lawn – perfect for picnics – and a wooden patio, widely used at lunchtimes, this courtyard is one of the more popular public spaces for relaxing in Camana Bay.

There is no grass in this courtyard, but Jasmine Court remains a family favourite for the many who make their way through Market Street every day. This courtyard, located in front of Camana Bay Cinema, features glowing bubble benches and a small fountain, a perfect playtime spot for toddlers. The bubble benches were specifically designed for Camana Bay and glow at night with azure blue, bright orange and deep sea green colours to create a sense of water ripples from the sea.

You may or may not yet be familiar with the name of the newest Camana Bay courtyard, Heliconia Court, but locals and visitors alike visit it every Wednesday for the Local Harvest Market. The courtyard is located across from Petit Paris and directly behind Scotiabank and is named after the stunning red heliconia plant. The heliconia plant is often referred to as a false bird of paradise due to the close similarity in appearance!

Canella Court can be referred to as the Cayman Islands version of the ‘Crossroads of the World’ as it leads you directly to the Crescent, Market Street and Forum Lane. This courtyard is located behind the Observation Tower and is home to stunning water features and hidden nooks that are perfect for a romantic breakfast or a private business call. This courtyard is often bustling during locals’ morning walks to work and during lunch breaks!

Most will recognise Cassia Court by the stunning yellow cassia tree that provides shade – and the perfect Instagram shot. Right behind Jessie’s Juice Bar, in front of The Terraces North, this courtyard benefits from a perfect location, just opposite the breezeway tunnel next to KARoo. A quiet corner of Camana Bay, this is the perfect spot for reading a book or just enjoying the breeze from the Crescent.

Now that you know all of the Camana Bay courtyards, where will you be spending your summer? Tag us on Facebook or Instagram in your courtyard snaps and use the hashtag #SunsOutFunsOut!
