Last year, we reached out to some of the faces we see around the Town Centre to find out their Mother’s Day stories. To celebrate 2016, we touched base with them again to find out what their favourite shared memory was in the last year.
One of the Faces we featured last year was Kourtni Jackson and her son Christopher, now eight. Christopher said his favourite memories with Mom from the last year are their ‘dates’ together. He loves it when it’s just him and Mom and they go out to dinner at Abacus and to see a movie at Regal Cinemas.
Read on for Kourtni’s story, which we first shared last year…
“The love, the laughter, the talks…for me, it’s really about appreciating my children for who they are and making the most of the limited time I have with them. Time truly does go by too quickly.”
Kourtni Jackson is the mother of three children – Ciara, 17, Kassidi, 14, and her youngest Christopher, aged seven – and she surrounds herself with children every day working in administration at Montessori By the Sea, which she considers highly rewarding.
As her eldest, Ciara, prepares to go to university in the fall, Kourtni has realised the speed at which time passes, which has only reinforced her priority of spending quality time with her children. Weekly family time is often spent at Camana Bay, seeing a movie at Regal Cinemas, dining at one of the Town Centre’s signature restaurants and always making time to shop! Travelling is also important to Kourtni and her family, and whether they enjoy a staycation or explore Alaska, they make the most of their time off together.
Motherhood has taught Kourtni the value of patience, at every stage of children’s development. Other meaningful lessons include reflecting on a situation before reacting and choosing your battles wisely.
