Cayman Designer Isy B. Finalist in Phoenix Fashion Week Contest

15 July 2016

From catwalks on The Paseo of Camana Bay to the runways of Phoenix Fashion Week, local designer Isy B. has been selected as a finalist for PXFW’s Emerging Designer of the Year. Isy Obi is a luxury fashion designer based in the Cayman Islands who showcased her design line at Camana Bay last month as she launched her clothes for sale in Sand Angels. Being inspired by travel, the philosophy of Isy B.’s line is simple: “luxury fashion with a comfortable feel”. This is no doubt the reason why her line is perfect for all ‘wanderlusters’, pleasant and adaptable for travel at any time.

The Phoenix Fashion Week is the main fashion event in the southwest; its core purpose is to connect designers and buyers through education, community involvement and of course, fashion. Starting off with over 300 applications worldwide, Isy B. will compete alongside 14 other designers for the most coveted title in the Southwest: Emerging Designer of the Year. The 14 designers will have to complete a series of challenges over a four-month period, in which they must showcase their creative talents and acuity. Developed by the Phoenix Fashion Week’s team, this competition is highly competitive as all of their designers are handpicked.

The competition kick-started with a catwalk challenge where former Miss Arizona, Maureen Montagne, wore an Isy B. gown. The competition will come to an end in October 2016 in Arizona, as designers will reveal their final collection to an audience of over 6,000. However, only one designer can walk away with the title of Emerging Designer of 2016 and claim the grand prize of US$10,000.
